As the Truman Scholarship's Niagara University campus representative,
it is my pleasure to announce that the application process for the 2014 Truman
Scholarship is open and the deadline is February 4th.
The mission of the Truman Scholarship Foundation--in memorial to our
thirty-third President--awards merit-based scholarships to college students who
plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman
Scholars receive up to $30,000 for
graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development
activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with
the federal government.
The Foundation has supported Truman Scholars in many fields of study, from agriculture, biology, engineering,
technology, medicine, and environmental management, to fields such as
economics, education, government, history, international relations, law,
political science, public administration, nonprofit management, public health,
and public policy.
If
you know of graduating 4th-year students
pursuing their graduate or professional education who really stand out for
their absolute excellence and true dedication to public service, please have
them review the information available at http://www.truman.gov
then have them contact me at pjb@niagara.edu. I look forward to working
with these students (and faculty) in bringing to NU a prestigious future Truman
Scholarship recipient.
