Mary Wall is a Western New York Native--she's
back in town, and she's coming to speak at Niagara University!
Join the Communication Studies Department on Tuesday, October 29 during the 11:10 -
12:30 class period in Bisgrove 351 to hear this veteran of "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation" talk
about her journey through show-biz. (Inside scoop: she's looking for student
assistants on an independent film
production about Sabres fans!)
Mary Wall earned a BS in Civil Engineering, and a BA in Creative
Writing--wow, what an odd combo!
She taught math, engineered the
environment--and dropped it all to run of to the City of Angels, L.A. No, she
was not "discovered" at first--played bit roles on TV shows, gave
tours of Warner Brothers, and even babysat.
An informational interview led to a job with
"The Office" during its first season--climbing the internal ladder
from various production-assistant titles to the more prestigious
"executive producer." She even debuted as a Real Actor on "Parks
and Recreation" (and continued writing).
But even a Writers Guild award nomination
(for a webisode--a TV series episode for online viewers) couldn't keep her away
from her beloved Sabres. In addition to her indie film, she works as a
part-time Recruitment Associate for Teach for America.
Room update: Moved to St. Vincent's Hall 405/406.
