Here's a good bread-and-butter set of links for everyone starting to think about the Great Job Search, especially if you're an English major graduating in 2013. (And it's a preview for those who will be getting to that stage soon, or even later.)

The first one summarizes basic strategies for getting hired.

The second one is sort of the same advice--but in reverse. Here are things not to do if you are looking for work.

Finally, an inspiring boost for English majors, and others in fields that do not appear (at first glance) to lead immediately, directly, inexorably to a specific job field. There are some great models here for how to parlay your degree into a very marketable resource, from an employer's perspective.
