I thought English majors might find this a link that strikes home. We're "a dime a dozen"--there are lots of us out there looking for jobs. It's not only people with undergrad degrees, but those with MAs and PhDs as well.
Some good advice here on how to stand out from the competition. You can't highlight only your skills as an English major (of which you have many, and of which y ou should be proud). However, clarify to potential employers that you've got additional qualities in areas like integrity, initiative and team-player spirit.
